Community Ministries

2009 06 11 Dorothy Day 005

Dorothy Day Hospitality House

The Dorothy Day Hospitality House is critical in caring for the homeless and hungry in the greater Danbury area. Saint Paul’s has for many years prepared the evening meal on the second Thursday of each month. We make the same meal each month, and many parishioners over the years have participated either by preparing a meal and dropping it by the church, or by coming down to the House and assisting in set-up and serving the meal.

Jericho Partnership

Jericho Partnership Inc. is a collaboration of Christ-centered ministries, congregations and foundations serving the youth, homeless and other at-risk populations of Danbury.  Their motto is "Mobilizing Ministry, Transforming a City."  Jericho is about transformation - transformed lives, potential and communities.  They provide facilities and mobilize volunteers to support Christian ministries that serve with local Christian congregations, to transform the heartbeat of Danbury's at-risk communities.

Food Pantry

Parishioners (youth and adult) weekly bring non-perishable food items and place them in the baskets at the rear of the church and in the Church School wing.  At the end of each month it is donated to various food pantries in Brookfield, New Milford, Danbury, Bethel and Sandy Hook.

Habitat for Humanity

Habitat for Humanity has long been supported by St. Paul's.  Most recently helping to build a home on Route 133 in Brookfield.  Saint Paul’s has been sending teams and financial to assist with construction of Habitat homes in the Danbury area.

Thanksgiving Meals & The Giving Tree

Each Thanksgiving, parishioners are encouraged to procure food items to share with local designated families.  And each Christmas we invite the parish to share in reaching out to several local families—usually this involves purchasing gift items and bringing them wrapped to the church, where our mission committee assists in distributing the gifts to the designated families. Both these ministries are done in conjunction with the Town of Brookfield Social Services department.
